Natural Language Technologies - Transforming Healthcare and Lifesciences

You are here

Analyzing and generating insights from unstructured data is the biggest nightmare of a number of industries, but none experience this difficulty more than healthcare and pharma industries. Data for these industries often resides in a variety of unstructured formats such as electronic health records, doctor’s notes, readings from wearable devices, research studies etc., that might not be compatible with each other. The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and its sub-branches has the potential to solve this problem. Natural language technologies, including NLP and NLG, can make sense of unstructured data and analyze them to generate actionable insights. These technologies can identify patterns, raise alerts and also generate contextually relevant narratives from this data. In an industry where a slight irregularity can impact someone’s life or result in a loss of billions of dollars, it is of utmost importance to harness this treasure trove of unstructured data, which was long ignored.

Products Corner:

The releases for April re-validate our focus on personalization and ease of use. Leni gives each user, be it an analyst or decision maker, the opportunity to generate insights most relevant and well-suited to their interests

  • Feedback UI integration – Leni now has an additional layer of selections for each rating and feedback comment given by the user. This feedback is then used by the system to refine future insights
  • Recommendation UI integration – For each insight generated, Leni can now show recommendations of questions to be asked based on personalized usage by each user and questions asked in the past
  • Conversion Handling in Insights – Leni can now answer conversion type questions which includes the ability to calculate conversion rates between different variables
  • Personalized Query Refinement - With this integration, Leni can now refine each query based on individual preferences and previous usage. If the same question has been asked by a user previously, the system refines the query automatically based on her previous preference
