The Business Analyst in AI World

Message from CEO

Going by the current stream of AI research and spiking growth of automated systems in business analysis, one can safely conjecture that in the next 10 years, the human Business Analyst will collaborate and partner with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Virtual agents to analyze, measure, and refine business processes

What's bringing this revolution? Its Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning which is shortening the supply chain between raw customer data, actual experiential customer insights and business decision making.   But does this spell doom for the business analysts?  Will AI replace analysts?

The answer is no.Yes, AI is advancing at an incredible pace and doing things that were once thought to be within the sole territory of humans, but there are still clearly areas where algorithms need humans. How I picture the future is where analysts like us, rather than being replaced by robots, will actually be surrounded by a task force of automated systems for advanced analysis.Rather than undermining people, AI will reinforce their role in driving business growth. As AI matures, it will potentially serve as a powerful antidote for the stagnant productivity and shortages in skilled labor of recent decades.Currently, the role of the analyst is often disconnected from the day-to-day machinations of the business and market, that give people the experience, context and perspective to generate actionable insights from data. AI can simply remove the redundency in tasks and augment the analysts' capabilities so that he/she can focus on higher-value analysis, decision-making and innovation.

The advancements in AI look a lot like having efficient assistants rather than replacements. Like a manager, every human will have a task force of AI, pattern matching and conducting closed environment analysis. The job of analysts will be to point the AI to the right questions to be analyzed and to decide how to apply that analysis to problems in the real world. What it means for us as  Future Analysts is to look to move past our current responsibilities in the data analysis process to help contextualise and humanise both the data and decisioning that an AI delivers.
