that was easier said than done though.
Even back in 2012, we knew in our bones that traditional data science consulting business model would struggle in the backdrop of the rise of big data, expanding information complexity and volume, and the shortening of business decision cycles within organizations.
The answer seemed simple - build robust analytical products that melded advanced technology to strong data science foundations to help organizations deal with these core fundamental problems.
We also knew that while it would be easier to build ‘point’ solutions and that was (and is!) the way industry was going, as practitioners of long standing ourselves, we realized problems change and what we needed more was an environment that could adapt, keep pace with industry, while allowing for quick deployments. This called for a platform that was technology and methodology agnostic and thus EPOCH was conceptualized. Epoch become our proprietary big data analytics platform enabling users to store, manage and extract algorithmic insights from the best from potentially humongous amounts and variable kinds of data.
We took EPOCH to market with the notion that businesses will automatically see the value we were offering and got our first reality check – organizations needed something they could deploy today and use tomorrow, something that was use-case ready. Businesses were either struggling to gather, comprehend, and analyse data or were failing to convert data to actionable insights in time.
We went back to the drawing board and started to build a comprehensive suite of products on Epoch to address these problems. Our new Philosophy – The Science of Happy Customers – encapsulated this new approach as we endeavoured to bring together the best of traditional human intelligence based analytical modelling, & the speed & scalability of Big Data technology, in creating intelligent business action widgets.
The result was our first use case, ServeSmart- A customer experience management tool to capture analyse and monitor customer engagement, followed by Precise Metrics, a web analytics tool and eventually Capstone, a B2B Experience Management tool which traversed industry sectors like Retail, Banking, Hospitality, Healthcare and IT.
We wanted to bring the vigour of traditional data science into smart self-learning systems- to create embedded intelligence in daily decision making across enterprises and consumer spaces.
This journey from platform to product was not easy but was a stepping stone to something bigger. We made lots of mistakes. And we learnt.
Then one day we realised as interesting and useful these solutions were, we were not leveraging the full range of capability we had created in EPOCH. Additionally, we were starting to see that clients were challenged by tool proliferation too and the bottleneck was now in the assimilation of insights coming from different tools working on top of different data. So we went back to our original vision and realised if we could combine the benefits of human data science practices with the speed and scale of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, we could solve for both fundamental issues – the problems themselves, as well as the entire process of assimilation and consumption by business leaders.
We had the ultimate inspiration for that – J.A.R.V.I.S. from Ironman! And, Lymbyc was born as a virtual data scientist that enables organizations to undertake data discovery and predictive insight generation through a natural language interface.
Our vision to create something unique has brought us to where we are today. Our strong belief that empowerment & democratization are universal human values has become even more powerful in the present context. With Lymbyc, we have succeeded in putting that power in the hands of our clients - to measure what matters, to ask what needs to be asked; and free themselves from the shackles of enormous volumes of data and organizational silos.
And as we transcend the next era of Foresight, we felt it’s the right time to call out what we truly represent, what we have achieved and what we know is our calling
